The Mumbai University SGPA Calculator is specially designed for students of the University of Mumbai (MU) who want to calculate their Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) accurately and without manual effort.
SGPA reflects a student’s academic performance in a single semester, calculated using the credits assigned to each subject and the grade points earned as per Mumbai University’s official grading system.

To easily calculate your SGPA, follow these steps:
Grade Point:
Each letter grade is given a numerical value on a 10-point scale in accordance with Mumbai University's guidelines.
Letter Grade:
Represents the student’s performance in a subject. Grades include O, A, B, C, D, E, P, and F.
The Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) for Mumbai University is calculated using the following formula:

Where:
Below is the official grade scale used to convert marks into grade points:
Mumbai University calculates the Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) using a credit-weighted average of grade points obtained in a semester. The calculation is based on credits and grade points, not raw marks.
First, your percentage of marks in each subject is converted into a letter grade and grade point using the Mumbai University grading table.
Example:
List all the subjects you registered for in the semester, along with their credits (C) and grade points (G).
For each subject, multiply the credits by the grade points:
C1×G1,C2×G2,…

The final value obtained is your SGPA.
For example:
Assume a student has the following credits and grade points:
Step 1: Multiply Credits with Grade Points
(4×9) + (3×8) + (2×10) + (3×7) + (4×10)
= 36 + 24 + 20 + 21 + 40
= 141
Step 2: Add Total Credits
4 + 3 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 16
Step 3: Calculate SGPA
SGPA = 141 ÷ 16 = 8.81
Final SGPA = 8.81
Improvement affects future SGPA/CGPA:
Until a failed subject is cleared with a valid grade, its zero grade point continues to affect SGPA and CGPA.
Mumbai University computes GPA (SGPA) through a credit-weighted formula. For each subject, the credits are multiplied by the grade points obtained, and the overall is divided by the total credits.
Formula:
SGPA = Σ(Credits × Grade Points) ÷ Σ(Credits)
It is to be noted that the calculation includes all registered subjects, i.e., those with zero grade points also.
Mumbai University uses a 10-point grading system. The marks obtained in each subject are transformed into grade points and letter grades.
Grades are given according to the percentage ranges set by the university.
To calculate GPA (SGPA) at Mumbai University:
The result obtained is your SGPA for that semester.
A student is considered failed if they receive an F grade, which carries 0 grade points.
An F grade is awarded when the marks obtained are below 40% in a subject.
Failed subjects are still included in the SGPA calculation until they are cleared with a passing grade.
A good GPA at Mumbai University is normally considered to be:
