The KTU CGPA Calculator tool helps APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) students calculate their Cumulative Grade Point Average (cgpa). CGPA is the weighted mean of grade points over all semesters and determines a student's academic standing throughout their course of study.
Follow the instructions mentioned below to use the KTU CGPA Calculator:
The formula to calculate CGPA is:
Where,
Below is the grade scale based on percentage to help you determine the grade point of your courses.
Note:
ESE - End Semester Examination
CIE - Continuous Internal Evaluation
Here is the step-by-step procedure to calculate the KTU CGPA with an example:
Step 1: Enter each SGPA and the Credits of Each Semester
Step 2: Multiply GPA by Corresponding Credits
Total SGPA = 7.5x18 + 8.0 x 20 + 7.0 x 16
= 135+160+112
= 407
Step 3: Total Credits for All Semesters
Total Credits = 18+20+16
= 54
Step 4: Calculate CGPA
Total CGPA = 407/54
= 7.54
To convert CGPA to percentage (KTU recommended method):
Percentage= CGPA × 10
Example
If CGPA = 7.54
Percentage = 7.54 × 10 = 75.4%
1. Do failed subjects count in CGPA?
All subjects, including those graded as F, FE, and Ab (0 grade points), will be included in the CGPA calculation.
2. Does clearing a backlog help in improving CGPA?
Clearing the backlog will help you improve your CGPA since the zero grade point is replaced with a new grade point.
3. Is SGPA equivalent to CGPA?
SGPA is the grade point for a particular semester, while CGPA is the cumulative average of all the semesters you have completed.
4. What is the minimum CGPA needed to pass?
A minimum CGPA of 5.0 is generally required to avoid academic probation, but all courses must also be passed individually.
5. Do all semesters have the same importance when calculating the SGPA?
No, they all do not have the same importance. Each semester’s contribution CGPA is dependent on its total weighted credits; those with more credits will have a stronger influence on the CGPA.
