The JNTUK CGPA Calculator is a tool used for students of Jawaharlal Technological University Kakinada in calculating their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The tool uses the user’s semester-wise SGPA alongside their credit values to compute their academic performance.
You can follow the instructions below to use the JNTUK CGPA calculator:
Grade Point: As per JNTUK this is a numerical value assigned to each letter grade on a 10-point scale.
Letter Grade: This serves as an indicator of student performance in a particular course. Grades are represented by the letters S, A, B, C, D, and F.
The formula to calculate CGPA is:
Below is the grade scale based on percentage to help you determine the grade point of your courses.
While computing the SGPA the subjects in which thestudent is awarded Zero grade points will also be included.
Let us calculate the CGPA for 4 Semesters:
Step 2: Multiply the SGPA of each semester by its credits.
Total SGPA’s = 7.5 x 24 + 8.0 x 25 + 7.2 x 24 + 8.5 x 25
= 180 + 200 + 172.8 + 212.5
= 765.3
Step 3: Add all semester credits
Total Credits = 24 + 25 + 24 + 25
= 98
Step 4: Calculate CGPA
CGPA = 765.3/98
= 7.81 CGPA
Here is the formula to convert the JNTUK CGPA to a percentage:
Percentage = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10
Example
If CGPA = 8.2
Percentage = (8.2 - 0.5) × 10 = 77.5%
Once a student has fulfilled the requirements for completing the program and is eligible for the B. Tech. Degree, he or she will be classified into one of the following four categories:
1. Can I exclude failed subjects in CGPA calculation?
No, all subjects are considered, including the failed ones. All subjects will count toward the CGPA until a passing grade is achieved in later attempts.
2. How many semesters are needed to calculate CGPA?
You have to complete at least two semesters to calculate CGPA. In order to derive a meaningful CGPA, it has to be constructed from cumulative semester SGPA’s (calculated with their respective credits).
3. Is CGPA used for job applications or higher studies?
Yes, CGPA holds value for placements as well as internships and further studies. In fact, most universities and organizations seek CGPA information from the applicants’ official academic documents.
4. What if two semesters have the same SGPA?
It's still counted separately as both contribute to the CGPA, depending on the total credit value from each semester. The SGPAs may be the same, but the differing credits will impact the cumulative CGPA value.
