From Tier 2 College to My First Software Job: My Journey with NxtWave

Why Placements Didn’t Work for Me in College

Like many students from tier‑2 colleges, I had limited exposure to placements during my B.E. The hiring numbers were low, there were no mass recruiters, and only a few students managed to get placed.

At one point, I even considered going for higher studies, but since my brother was already doing his MBA in Canada, I decided to stay back, support my family, and explore job options locally.

My Family and Their Role in My Decision

My father is a businessman—he runs a small private factory unit that works on inlet merging for copper and steel. My mother is a homemaker, and both of them have always supported my decisions.

They never pressured me, even when I took a break after graduation. Their trust gave me the space to figure things out.

Discovering NxtWave and Starting Fresh

After graduation, I took a six-month break to reassess my goals. I came across NxtWave on social media, and the student stories caught my attention. What stood out to me was the practical structure of the course and the fact that people like me, without placements, were still able to secure jobs.

In October 2024, I joined their Full Stack Development program. It was a fresh start, and the timing couldn’t have been better.

I cracked my first interview, and that too within six months of joining the course. I joined Aggne as a Software Engineer Trainee. This was a huge moment, not just for me but also for my parents. It was our shared win.

Sports Built My Confidence Before Tech Did

I was active in kabaddi throughout college and participated in several inter-college tournaments. 

Sports taught me how to stay calm under pressure, work effectively with a team, and push through failure, all of which helped me during mock interviews and job preparation.

My Honest Advice to Fresh Graduates and Career Starters

• Do not panic if your college has low placements. You still have options.
• Look for a learning platform like NxtWave that offers structure, not just videos.
• Be consistent even when results are slow.
• Practice mock interviews seriously — they helped me improve a lot.
• Start now. Waiting won’t make it easier.

Where I Am Today—and What’s Next

I am currently working as a Software Engineer Trainee at Aggne, and this is my first full-time role after graduation. Every day, I get to apply what I have learned and continue growing as a developer.

From being unsure after college to starting my tech career, this journey has been challenging, but worth every step.
